A lovely household based in Tarrant Rushton, Dorset, are seeking an experienced live in housekeeper / cook / companion to provide practical and friendly support with the smooth running of their home. This is a varied role combining high-standard housekeeping, meal preparation and companionship, making it ideal for a warm, reliable and proactive candidate who enjoys becoming a trusted part of a private household.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar private household role and be confident managing housekeeping and cooking duties independently. A confident driver is essential, and the family can provide a car for work-related and household use. The ideal candidate will be friendly, discreet and respectful, with excellent attention to detail and excellent references.
Duties include:
- maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout the home
- cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas
- vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing household surfaces
- laundry and ironing
- making beds and changing bed linen
- wardrobe and clothing care
- organising cupboards and household storage areas
- maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
- preparing fresh, healthy home-cooked meals
- planning simple menus according to the household’s preferences
- shopping for groceries and household essentials
- monitoring household supplies and replenishing items when required
- keeping the home tidy, organised and well presented
- providing friendly companionship and a reassuring presence
- accompanying the client on outings, appointments or errands when required
- driving for household errands, appointments and activities
- running occasional household errands
- liaising with tradespeople or contractors when necessary
- helping with the general day-to-day running of the household
- ensuring the home remains clean, comfortable and welcoming at all times
